Vampire: The Masquerade â Bloodlines 2 is cancelling PS5 pre-orders but itâs not delayed

Remember when Vampire: The Masquerade â Bloodlines 2 cancelled pre-orders back in June 2023? We absolutely do, and itâs happened again. The official VtM â Bloodlines account has tweeted that theyâll be cancelling PlayStation Store pre-orders of Bloodlines 2. Could the PS5 version of this game be in trouble?
After all, itâs not the first time Vampire: The Masquerade â Bloodlines 2 pre-orders have been axed. It happened back in June 2023 when publisher Paradox Interactive announced it was cancelling and refunding all physical pre-orders.
However, PlayStation 5 owners can breathe a sigh of relief. The game is still on course for an October 21 release and the tweet also advises that players will be able to pre-order the game again before that date. Instead, digital PS5 pre-orders are being cancelled because Paradox and developer The Chinese room are âmaking adjustments and will share the details on Sept 17.â
That all sounds rather mysterious. And why is it only happening to PS5 pre-orders? We suspect itâs because of the way the PlayStation 5 store operates, or Sonyâs policies. It may be that Paradox is allowed to amend pre-order specifics on the Steam and Xbox stores, but not on the PlayStation Store.
So what are Paradox and The Chinese Room doing? Our best guess is theyâre rolling back the decision to make the Toreador and Lasombra vampire clans DLC. The former clan was a starting choice in the original Vampire: The Masquerade â Bloodlines, and there was a massive backlash when the news dropped.
Weâll have to wait till September 17th to find out for sure, but weâll be more than happy if the World of Darknessâs fanciest vampires are back in the mix. In the meantime, if youâve not played the original Vampire: The Masquerade â Bloodlines, you can get it for half-price at GOG.
